"Some journeys you are born into - some you create as you go along! I have been blessed by the balance of both into my life.
My earliest memories at about 5 years of age, were of being a healer - of telling my oldest brother to lay on the floor so that I could "work" on him. That was my first A-shiatsu massage session :)
Over the decades as a body worker, I have developed methods for moving into the body in a way that not only has no 'pain trigger' response but also allows for very deep work without the normal 'bruising' effect. I bring a love for what I do to each session. YOU are my focus. YOU are my meditation while I work. YOUR body knows that it is receiving absolute attention so speaks up and tells me where next... what is needed...
Our guiding force is that it does NOT have to hurt to heal. We and our team members look forward to working with you!
Kate's full Bio
My
name is Kate Reust and I am the owner and creator of Crysalis Touch and
the founder of the Crysalis Wellness Center. I created Crysalis Touch
in response to the question from one of my clients -- "what do you call what you do?".
They were serious. At about 70 years of
age, and having grown up in China, they had not experienced the
complexity of move, energy and touch that I bring to my work and wanted
to know what I called my creation as it was obviously like nothing they
had experienced over their lifetime.
Thus the name Crysalis was born -- and like
my totem -- Reminds me to Step Lightly with Healing Focus (yes
dragonfly is one of my totems) -- its counter points my protector totem
of Grizzly. :) Go figure. You'll "get it" when you meet me I guess. I
have over 40 years in the healing arts and nearly 20 years as a licensed
body worker. I am a graduate of the Brenneke School of Massage in
Seattle with follow on studies in multiple areas of holistic health and
bodywork including intraOral therapy. Deep tissue treatment and the use
of intraOral work for the treatment of migraines, TMJ, whiplash and
other cervo-thorasic issues is my key focus. I am also highly skilled in
other areas of pain mitigation and treatment for various types of
issues. From weekend warriors to sports injuries and beyond.
| "I follow the needs of the body. Some call my work Shamanic
Healing. Some just that I can "see" what is out of balance within the
person at that time. I have been doing a wide variety of bodywork and
energy work since my earliest childhood memories around the age of 5." |
I've
been told by friends for a long time that what I do is "woowoo" as the
depth and clarity often startles them with which I can tell what is
happening both under my hands and in often remote but related areas of
the body. Often what I see in the body now leads me to ask about
injuries, surgeries or accidents which happened years in the past. This
is why I ask you to be clear at the start about surgeries and other body
trauma's. Each has an impact on the fluid dynamics of the body and how
we respond in the now.
"Each of us can assist in our own healing
by remembering to listen to that Little Voice inside. It tells us when
and where we're out of balance IF we remember to listen. It is my goal
to help you learn to listen and be aware. It is Not mumbo jumbo - just
good targeted work where the body needs it - physical, energy,
emotional. "
A single session does not allow time for a "full
body" massage normally, but you will not feel neglected. I take pride in
really trying to hear both your words and your body. We know we're not
the things our body holds onto and we CAN see that often the true
limitation is in the mind - more than the body."
Kate's clients
and patients have often asked "how did you know to go THERE?". The best I
can say to someone who has not discovered how to 'hear' the body of
another, is that "I Listen with my Hands, Eyes and Heart" working in
harmony" and guided by your body. Your body has a rhythm - a push/pull ,
it's pulse. Your breathing shifts and changes as your sympathetic
systems respond to the work being done. It's all a process of listening
and response.
I can often 'see' what I term body force lines
or areas of imbalance. Sounds like 'woowoo' I know, (does some days to
me too) but it's a matter of being sensitive to the variables of the
body. Being able to sense the changes in field dynamics and energy flo
(chi) and having the experience to know how to "unwind" the body.
This
is one of the reasons why it is so vital that when I ask about
surgeries, that I get full information. As surgical interruption in the
body leaves "tracks" or "blocks" which force the body to change how it
flows. It also leaves scar tissue which the system either learns to work
with in harmony - or just work with. Often it's the imbalances of old
scar tissues and adhesion's, changes in our fluid pathways, which shift
how our bodies self attenuate or tune.
It does NOT have to hurt to heal!
